Finding Blogging Niches Made Easy

By Dale D Bigio

Finding your blogging niche should be one of the aspects of blogging which the blogger carefully considers before starting a blog. This is especially important if the blogging is being done for the purpose of financial compensation. Ideally a blog owner should select a blog subject about which they are passionate and knowledgeable. However, bloggers should also carefully consider the direct competition as well as the purpose of the blog before starting their blog.

This article will discuss these considerations in greater detail in an attempt to assists bloggers in choosing a subject for a new blog. This information is applicable to both bloggers who are completely new to blogging as well as experienced bloggers who are considering starting a new blog.

Singling Out Your Interest That May Be Profitable

To get started, make a list of your interest. Now, before you put down something like Make Money Online, be aware that this niche is very competitive and abused. It seems like every blogger out there wants to start a blog about making money online. Forget it! There are other niches that will be just as profitable and far less competitive. It may take you years, if ever, to become profitable in this niche. Instead, search your interest. Do you like to cook? Play soccer? Travel? Perhaps you love woodworking? Believe it or not, once you dominate niches like these, they can be every bit as profitable as the make money online niche.

As I said before, nearly any subject is fair game for a niche blogger. The subject of the blog isn't nearly as important as whether or not you have knowledge about the niche and whether or not you can provide informative and interesting blog post. Once you can do that, everything else starts falling into place. Bloggers who only want to make money with a blog may have to search their interest for a subject that is capable of bringing in a higher traffic count, but even small interest can be profitable by multiplying the number of blogs you have.

Sizing Up Your Competition

Once a blogger has selected one or more subjects he is considering for a blog, it is time to begin evaluating the competition. This includes viewing other blogs covering the same subject matter. This will not only give the blogger a good indication of whether or not the market is already saturated with blogs on this subject and the quality of the existing blogs on this subject. Based on this information the blogger can make an informed decision about whether or not he feels capable of competing for blog traffic with the existing blogs.

Deciding What the Purpose of Your Blog Should Be

Blogs can be created for any number of purposes. Politicians use them to get their message out. Activist use them to recruit and energize members. Some of us use them to make our income from them. There are any number of reasons for starting a blog. Why is this important? Because if you're starting a blog to make money, you need to make sure there is enough interest in your subject to drive traffic to your blog. Traffic will be what makes you money. Without traffic, there will be no money coming in from your blog!

With that being said, it's very important a new blogger choose an interest that is capable of driving traffic to their blog. The subject should be somewhat popular or broad enough where your message can reach a large audience. If you've chosen an interest of yours that you have knowledge in and are passionate about, then this step will be rather easy for you.

Blogging about the Weird and the Wonderful

By Stuart G Martin

Incy Wincy Spider Liberator - yes, that's a new invention meant to help spiders in your bathtub to escape from the drowning. You place the tiny ladder for the spider to climb up and get away from danger.

If you knew that, do you know about the Santa Claus Detector? Well, it's a stocking you can hang beside the fireplace. It detects Santa when the unsuspecting chap gets down the chimney and gets into the house, tapping the soot off his red suit, and lights up and flashes like an alarm.

If you're quite at ease with the natural order and the survival of the fittest, and you have a cat, you might be interested in a little gadget that combines a bird trapper with a cat feeder. Yes, you got the gist quite right.

If you didn't know about any of this - or that in no Vegas casino will you find a clock - you really should browse through a few blogs about the weird and the wonderful! How people come up with these ideas is up to you to decide, of course, but there are quite a few creative minds out there that are just warped enough to come up with some of the weirdest things you'd ever hear of.

In case you have the information about a certain Santa Detector that carries a shot gun with it, it is your obligation to let others know about it! Everybody on this earth should have a fair chance to use the detector and its accessories.

It is not essential that you understand or follow the ideas of the strange inventions, but you can always admire the thought. For instance, don't you think a pair of shoes having an air conditioner beneath it would be wonderful? It would just keep you feeling fresh, not to mention the elimination of stinky feet.

The internet is similar to a limitless information source, although not all of it's reliable or even true. The weird and wonderful news stories, inventions and all sorts of unbelievable aspects of life are always very interesting and these are blogged by those who believe in everything unconventional.

Reading some of these blogs about the weird and wonderful can keep you entertained for a long time and if you wish, you can add your two cents to them too. All you have to do is dig up something strange and let everyone know about it.

Creating a Profitable Blog

By Randy The Hermit

There are several types of business models that entrepreneurs use to make money blogging.

One of the most common ways is to sell advertising to companies and / or individuals that have a product or service that matchs your niche.

Another way is to create a blog on a topic that informs and suggests products for the readers that are related to the topic of the blog.

These are two of many methods that can be used to create profits from your blog.

If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site; you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue.

Within the first group, many people make money blogging by selling space through Google's AdSense program.

This saves you the work of finding prospects and recruiting them to your advertising program.

However, most people discover that they make less money through this method than they had hoped that their blog would earn.

Selling advertising directly to companies who want to put banner ads or sponsored links on your blog can take quite a bit of time, but it is often fairly lucrative.

If you have a lot of contacts in industries that are related to the topic of your blog, you may want to try to go this route.

If you are an experienced in sales and have experience with cold call sales you might be able to build up a lucrative income by looking for related websites that might be interested in advertising on your blog.

The most serious problem with this model is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging.

Blogging is becoming more and more popular every day and there are a lot of companies that are looking for ways to get their piece of the pie.

Sometimes they will establish their own company blog that will provide information about their company and product.

Other companies will want to outsource their blogging to experienced bloggers that will let them get the brand recognition and build a relationship with the customer through a third party endorsement.

As you can see these are only a couple of ways you can make money with your blog there are many more ways and you might be surprised at the offers you get if your blog becomes popular.

Life Made Easy Through Blogging

By Russell R. Hughes

Anybody who has lived long enough to be more than just a stuffed shirt has learnt a lot of things about life the hard way. Anyone who has spent enough time in the world to have at least one incoherent thought has realised that there are actually a lot of mistakes you can avoid quite easily if you learn to listen.

Whatever aspect of life you are passing through, whether it is your baby who has started teething, sibling rivalry or expecting some freaky gusts - you would look for help and won't mind a few guidelines.

The world of internet is flooded with blogs that promise to give correct information about your problem. These blogs will lay a complete picture of the ways and methods other people have acquired and acted. You can choose from any of the procedures or you can mix and match them.

They could be a lot more straightforward - little snippets about things that happened, maybe a fluke pinch of something that made some chocolate chip cookies turn out to be divine, maybe something as grave as how juggling too many things can make a family suffer - but these will be real experiences you can relate to and learn from.

It's not all about advice and learning, though. There will be a lot of really fun articles that will help you find hobbies that can give you a lot of pleasure. You can get plenty of suggestions on how you can handle awkward situations.

When was the last time you held control over your life? Awkward and embarrassing incidents are aplenty in our lives and there's always a way to deal with them. These blogs help you relate to other people and give you plenty of insight into how you can deal with a variety of situations in daily life. Sometimes, the humour in your circumstance can be highly amusing.

If tips are what you need, you'll find it all, whether it's about super-cleaning your clothes, assembling a computer, writing a novel or anything else. While you learn new things, don't forget to share something you know too. All blogs welcome comments from visitors, so let them know something new.

Every person has certain adventures to share. Thus even you might have some information that is useful to people around you. It may change their lives to a positive direction. Don't keep this information to yourself - spread it. The best way to let others know is by writing for blogs.

Blog To Express Yourself!

By Mary J Russell

Blogs have become immensely popular among today's web savvy community. They are used to bring news, stories, discussions, reviews and much more to a large audience around the globe. Another great way to use blogs is to express yourself openly through them. Having a special 'let it out' blog can help you express your opinions without really discriminating or harming anyone.

People may see you as opinionated or biased, but that's partly the fun of having a blog to get things off your chest. An annoyance you had to face the day before or how you simply dislike having to wait in a queue, that blog is your place to say it. You'll be surprised how many people tend to agree with what you have to say.

There are many bloggers who take the time to express their opinions to the world. Sometimes, these blogs are hilarious and focus on the humour in everyday life. Other times, you'll come across blogs which are bordering on the offensive, simply because the truth hurts.

The ones that look at life in a way that makes it fun and have a tone that talks to you are the ones that you can comment on comfortably, giving in your penny's worth. This is a great way to get to know people.

Making a blog interesting takes effort and if your blog is focusing on hard news, you might have a hard time presenting updated content continuously. The more you update a blog, the more interesting it is. Because of these reasons, the idea behind a blog specifically created to express yourself is more appealing to the worldwide community.

Most conversations in the real world consist of what happened to whom, where and how it effected others and all types of other gossip. These same conversations can be held through an interesting blog on the web. So, whether you want to express your opinions on world politics or simply complain to the world about how noisy your neighbour is, you can rave about it to your heart's content in a blog.

To do all this, you don't need to have your own blog. You can simply sign up with an already established blog and become a guest blogger. Also, you can simply join in by sharing your viewpoints about anything that's discussed in the blog. Expressing yourself through a blog and letting the world know how you feel can be liberating and enjoyable.

Personal interest blogs are gradually becoming more popular among the web-savvy community and so, make the best of it through becoming a participant yourself.

SEO In Blogging

By Patrick G. Moore

Internet has opened up many opportunities to earn money through blogging and websites. Blogging is indeed fun especially if you blog about something of your interest. There are many niches you can blog about such as blogging itself, hobbies and technology. The only question you should ask yourself is what you want to blog about.

If your main reason for starting a blog is to earn money, you will need to learn how to increase your blog ranking. Blog ranking has effect on whether you can earn money from your blog or not. To put it in a simple explanation, the more visitors to your blog, the more you can earn from your blog.

This is why you need SEO or Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization is to make your blog appear on the first page of the Google search result for a specific keyword. For example, if you have a blog about making money online and you want your blog to appear at the top page of the search results when someone search for 'make money online' learn how to use the keyword effectively in your blog.

There are many ways to implement SEO in blogs. Using keywords would be one of the ways to increase your blog ranking in the specific keyword. Blog commenting is also a popular way to promote your blog in the blogosphere.

Social networking is another way to promote your blog. With sites like Facebook, Twitter and Blogcatalog, you have many ways to connect with bloggers and promote each other's blogs. This is also a great way to expand your network, meet more people and gain more experience in blogging.

Of course, some people blog just for fun and from fun itself, they can get many visitors until one day they are earning from their own blog as well. If blogging is such as fun and full of surprises, why not start a blog today? You can try Blogger if you are new to blogging as it is easier to manage but Wordpress is also another favourite.

Blog Carnivals = Blog Traffic + Expert Authority (Part 2)

By Jared Conley

In the previous article in this series, I discussed what blog carnivals are and why all new bloggers should be participating in them. In case you missed that post, let me recap quickly the benefits to participating in blog carnivals:

* They improve your authority

* You quickly get profitable, regular readers of your partner blogs

* You get a quick surge of traffic to blog entries

* You get a long term improvement in search engine rankings

What I'd like to review in this article is how you can derive the most benefit out of your carnival efforts. Let's be real, carnivals take time and effort, so you should get the most benefit and good will from them as possible. Here's how you can do just that:

1) Submit your articles early. There will be a call for entries deadline, but it's likely that the host already has some idea on how the post will be structured before the deadline, so you want your article available during this early stage.

2) Make the host's job easy: Learn how to create blog post titles that are clever, and brainstorm two or three powerful, compelling headings that can be used for the anchor text in links. Good headings are hard to create, so create them on your own. You'll save the host the effort and get more traffic from a better headline.

3) Follow the submission guidelines.

4) Get organized: Organize the information you submit. Include your e-mail address, name, blog name, post title, article summary, several sample headings, trackback URL, and permalink. Place this information in an e-mail above the full post itself, unless otherwise directed.

5) Promote: Once submitted, be sure to advertise the carnival. What goes around comes around, and your aggregate efforts to drive traffic will payoff for everyone in the long run. That's the point of these carnivals: all participants are sharing subscribers, giving each the opportunity to attract the others' regular readers.

6) Make sure your blog can handle your traffic: Prepare your blog for any traffic spikes that might occur, and optimize the page that the carnival readers will be viewing. You'll want to target the offers or ads to your audience, provide a very visible subscription link, and follow-up with at least one week's worth of solid articles to capitalize on any repeat traffic you might have.

Blog carnivals are a terrific way to attract relevant, qualified, profitable, long-term readers. Use them intelligently and you'll reap the rewards. But you must be prepared to put your best foot forward. Pick up a good blogs how to if you have any doubts on how you can prepare your blog for this kind of traffic.

What Is Blogging?

By Marlon Truewealth

Actually, the word "blog" is merely an abbreviated form of the word "weblog". Blogs started out as online diaries, but now they have morphed into full-blown content management systems that can be used by various types of sites.

Even very extensive, well-known web sites -- web sites that you wouldn't expect to be using free software -- actually use Wordpress and/or other blogging platforms for their content management. Indeed, blogging solutions have become very popular these days.

Blogs have many benefits such as inbuilt RSS feeds that can alert people and websites when your blog has been updated with a new post.

One excellent advantage is that you don't have to know HTML, web design or programming to be able to publish a website blog, since the content management system simplifies it for you.

To post a new article, all you have to do is log into your admin panel. In addition, you can customize your site, manage plug ins (software that adds various functions to your blog) and you can do a variety of other tasks.

The majority of those who are making money blogging focus on a topic that is of interest to them and publish articles, reviews, ideas and advice on that topic.

You can monetize a blog using affiliate links and banners, Adsense ads, by selling banner slots, by selling your own product and via many other methods. In fact there really is no limit as to how you can earn money from blogging.

Wordpress is by far the most popular blogging software. This is simply a free script that you download from wordpress.org and then upload to your web host. Many web hosts have a one click interface that lets you easily install Wordpress in seconds.

A fantastic feature of Wordpress is that the readers can post comments regarding your blog posts. This way, all of your articles are kept active in the search engine, which contributes to increased interest and keeps people coming back to your site time and time again.

Blog comments are a great way to form a community of readers - make sure you also reply to the posts so people know that you really care.

So now that you have a better idea of what blogs are, you can begin to create your very own niche blogging empire!

Blogging - Simply Express Yourself

By Stuart G Martin

Life is a stream of emotions. No single person on this earth is in perfect harmony. There are many emotional upheavals and this gives vent to the frustrations and dissatisfactions of life. In case you want to seethe and crib about it, it is fine. However, you have to be secretive about your feelings as the world around you will label you as a grumbler without paying much attention to your problems.

So how do you take that out from your system? It is actually pretty easy. Just write away those feelings and let them out. The world of blogging is just for you, waiting to hear all about your annoyances.

When you have something on your mind, you have to let it out. You also need someone to agree with you. Let's face it, nobody wants logical reasoning when you just want to get something off your chest.

When you are in a bad mood and want to get some respite, what are the ways that can bring it you? Well, you can indulge in some self-pity, or you can scream at someone. The best way is to share your feelings with people who think like you do.

This was the reason why blogs were created - to vent out your emotions. On the world wide web you find people who contribute to your feelings in a similar fashion. On posting your comments on the blog you will definitely get written responses from these people. They will also throw in a few words of enlightenment and your purpose is solved.

If you are more rational, blogging about certain points of view can be your idea of an enjoyable discussion. It can be anything from your favourite American Idol contestant, the not-so-surprising turn out of the US presidential election, the financial crisis or the funny side of life. It's fun and entertaining and when people comment and carry on discussions about what you started talking about, it adds to the experience.

Even if it's something as personal as a fight with your at-the-moment-not-exactly-better half, you can always vent by just writing about it. After all, it is a well known fact that putting something down in words and then reading it is a great way to set things in the right perspective.

When you are in distress, you want to find someone with whom you can share your anxieties. And you are not alone. There are many people who share the same anxieties as you do. Blogs solve this problem. You can now find people with similar thinking. All you have to do is to convert your emotions into words.

Blogging - The New Media Publishing House

By Stuart G Martin

Ever heard of manuscripts that are like faithful dogs? No matter where you send them, they come back to you, usually with a polite - if you're lucky - note saying that what you sent is not exactly what the publishing house is looking for. But, by all means, they say, keep writing.

It's possible that someone went through this process too many times and invented blogging, the ideal way to forget editors and publishers and express thoughts and feelings, creatively, nonsensically or in any way you please. Blog to your heart's content and no one can tell you to stop it, because it's your own little publishing world and you hold all the rights.

There are no boundaries for the topics. You can write on anything that exists or doesn't exist. You can let your imagination flow.

The very best part, though, is that you can find plenty of people who have an opinion on what you write about, even if you decide, for some reason, to write about Latin phrasebooks. It follows that no matter what you have an opinion on, you can easily find a blog about it, where you can agree or disagree.

Blogging can be monetarily advantageous. In case your blog becomes famous, you can use the space for pay per click ads on your page. This activity gets rid of the ultimate issue of financial gains. Basically, you are getting paid for what you like.

Some of the most common blogs are how-to blogs. No matter what you want to do, somebody will tell you how to do it. Or if you like keeping up with the weirder happenings of the world, there are bloggers who dedicate hours to gathering the weirdest of news.

If you prefer lifestyle news and tips, you'll find several blogs to keep you amused. If entertainment is your style, you'll come across plenty of bloggers willing to share what they know and think about your favourite television shows, movies or music.

No matter what you want to know, there are people who want to tell you - for no real reason other than that they just want to. No matter what you want to say, there will be people who want to listen. That's what blogs are for!

Want To Make Money With Blogging To The Bank 3.0. Here's How

By Yomi A

Blogging has been around for a few years now. Most people use blogs to record their thoughts and lives, while the select few use them as a free way to make a fortune.

One guy who uses this to his advantage is Rob Benwell. In 2006 he dished the dirt on the tips and tricks to making a fortune using blogging. But as time passes the old systems become obsolete and new techniques are required. This is where his brand new, fresh off the press Blogging to the Bank 3.0 system comes into play.

For those who know who Rob Benwell is like me, you?ve probably made a killing using blogs.

For those who don't, he's the story:

Back in 2005 he was struggling to make any profit online, had dropped out of college and was getting deep into debt. He was trying all the techniques the gurus tell you and wasn't getting anywhere fast. All of that went in the bin and he started using his own techniques and started making more and more money using simple blogs. In early 2006 he shared this with the world and had a great ebook called blogging to the bank. Tons of people got rich from using these techniques (including me). He then spoke at Online Marketing Legend Yanik Silver's underground Seminar where he revealed even more of his underground strategies. Then July 2007 he released Blogging to the Bank 2.0 which showed users his new methods to creating online wealth using blogs. In total both versions have been read by over 50,000 people across the world.

But as I said earlier, the techniques used in these ebooks are now showing there age. Some of them are not even working in the slightest! This is where blogging to the bank 3.0 comes into play.

It's full of great new techniques that work online right now! Everything's explained in plain English with all the fluff cut out. I got hold of an advanced copy of the book for a much higher price than what it actually sells for and it has been worth every single cent! I got it in the afternoon and by the evening I was creating new profitable blogs. Within a couple of hours of them being active I had made a nice little profit.

Blogging To The Bank 3.0 teaches you Robs new step by step blueprint to creating highly profitable long term niche blogs using the newest optimization techniques. There's even a section on advanced Search Engine Optimization. Most people think SEO is difficult but Rob explains this nice and simply so even the blogging newbie will understand it.

Blogging To The Bank 3.0 is a breath of fresh air and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to make easy money online.

Blogger, Typepad, Wordpress: How do You Choose?

By Jared Conley

I can't think of a more common concern or question among both novice and veteran bloggers alike: which blogging platform should I pick? Aside from learning how to blog, it's an almost universal concern.

And there is no one-size-fits-all answer. All bloggers NEED to own their domain names, but choice of the platform is mainly dependent on the specific blogger's requirements. That said, I've compiled a list of advantages and disadvantages of the two primary platform choices below.

Hosted Platforms

Hosted platforms refer to services whereby a service provider gives you access to their software, hardware, and network connection, and you create a blogging account to use on their platform. With a hosted blog, you have access to an administrative panel for your blog, and that's it.

Standard hosted platforms include solutions like Typepad, LiveJournal, and Blogger.

Advantages of Hosted Platforms

1. Cheap: many are free; some (like TypePad) are offered with multiple price points

2. Easy to get started: just signup for an account and then quickly learn how to create blog posts

3. Automatic updates: you needn't concern yourself with keeping hosted software patched and updated.

Disadvantages of Hosted Platforms

1. Rigid: there are fewer customization options with hosted platforms.

2. Fewer design options: you usually only get to select from a limited number of mediocre designs, and you often can't make improvements to them

3. Generic URL: some hosted platforms don't offer the option to use your own URL

4. Less control: you are at the mercy of the platform

5. Migration issues: migrating from many free hosted platforms results in a lot of effort and often the temporary loss of search engine rankings

Self-hosted Platforms

Self-hosted platforms consist of your own web hosting account with a host, and the blogging software you install on the host's server. With a self-hosted blog, you have access to an administrative panel for your blog, but you also have access to a server account and the blog software where you can do almost anything.

Popular self-hosted software includes WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal.

Advantages of Self-hosted Platforms

1. Design flexibility: you have full control over design and layout

2. Great software: the best software exists on self-hosted platforms

3. Custom URL: custom URL's are ubiquitous on self-hosted platforms

4. Adaptability: your blog can change as your needs change

5. Easy migration: should you ever need to migrate to a different platform or another server, migrating is a snap

Disadvantages of Self-hosted Platforms

1. Difficult setup: setup can sometimes be difficult, but this can be overcome with a good blogs how to

2. Cost: while the blogging software is free, the hosting platform will cost you money

3. Hosting issues: unless you choose a good host, you might have to suffer from down-time or poor support

4. Upgrades: you will need to keep your software patched

Most of of my blogs are self-hosted, and it's what I generally recommend to anyone looking to create a professional presence. There are too many benefits to turn down, and you usually have the choice to host many blogs and domains on one account, driving the cost per blog down to a small amount.

Want A Ton Of Blog Subscribers ? Read 10 Important Traffic Tips.

By Yomi A

In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else''s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that''s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers. Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers.

These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good "how-to" lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn''t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don''t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that''s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you''ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people''s blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger''s article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it''s sort of like your blog telling someone else''s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it''s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it''s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn''t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it''s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your "Resource Box". You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I''ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won''t stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.

Aspiring Bloggers Should Participate in Blog Carnivals (Part 1)

By Jared Conley

I'll start by saying that I'm a big fan of blog carnivals. They're not without their disadvantages, of course, but the benefits entirely outweigh the investment of time and effort that you give them.

That's why it confounds me that blog carnivals aren't as popular as they should be. Yes, the first couple times that you participate in them, it might take you a little extra time to learn the ropes. And new carnival networks can sometimes be more unreliable than one would like. But get hooked up with a solid group of bloggers in your market, and carnivals are excellent ways to:

* Improve your authority

* Immediately gain profitable, regular readers of your partner blogs

* Get an immediate surge of traffic to blog posts

* Get a long term improvement in search result rankings

Carnivals: Just the Facts

A blog carnival is a virtual event consisting of a group of bloggers writing about a specific subject. The posts produced (or linked to) during a carnival frequently end up looking like a magazine. The carnival has a title, theme, editors, writers, and consumers. Most carnivals are held regularly with rotating hosts.

A carnival usually has an owner, who is the organizer of the overall carnival, deciding or collaborating on things like frequency, rules, how to blog in the carnival, editorial guidelines, and such. The owner also acts as the coordinator, determining the hosting schedule for the carnival.

Every carnival has a specific host, and the host's blog is where all the blog articles for that specific carnival are located. In response to the call for submissions, every blogger participating in the carnival sends their post to the host, where it is reviewed, edited, and published in the host blog as one giant post (link bait) or a series of posts. Obviously, you'll need to know how to create blog posts that are compelling and effective to get the most benefit.

Carnivals usually draw a lot of qualified traffic, so bloggers participating in the carnival receive a valuable backlink from the host and the immediate traffic surge associated with the original readers. The carnival host gets links from each of the member bloggers who have teamed together to advertise the carnival, knowing that the better the carnival is, the better the links will be when it comes time for their turn to host.

Now that you know what a carnival is, we'll discuss how you can get the most out of your carnival participation . . . in our next post!

The Essentials of Blogging

By Blog Coach

Beginning to learn about blogging largely consists of learning the terminology used by bloggers. You'll need to understand these terms: blog, platform, domain and web host. Once you understand these essentials of blogging, you'll be able to talk about blogging as if you've done it for years. Once you know exactly what a blog is and how it works, you'll be ready to pass your blogging 101 exam with flying colors.

Blog is an abbreviated form of the word weblog; that is to say a series of posts presented by date, much like an online diary. The majority of blogs are plain text, but video and photo blogs are out there as well. Blogs themselves are relatively simple, but to set one up you'll need to learn some of the technical aspects; you're going to need a web host, a domain and a platform.

First, let's address platform. Your platform is a piece of software which lets you write your posts and upload them to your blog. Platforms will also include design tools to customize the look of your blog.

The next term is web host. A web host refers to the company (or a server owned by that company) which is the "residence" of your blog. Think of it as a sort of file cabinet where the blog posts you write are stored.

Domain is simply the web address of your blog, typically ending in .com.

Once you learn all of these important terms which every blogger has to know, you deserve a reward: you have successfully completed blogging 101!

Unique Wordpress Themes For Your Blog

By Den M Smythe

Weblogging, better known as blogging, is doubtless the commonest configuration of sites nowadays. Hundreds of rising bloggers turn up daily and they convey their thoughts on everything and nothing on a never-ending basis. What you compose surely acquires a significant perspective, but it's crucial to make certain the site appears attractive too. This is where the favourite weblogging program, WordPress, steps in.

Why should you utilise WordPress? Plainly said, the program supplies lots of features to assist all your creative thinking. In addition, the WordPress platform can be hosted on a service that's PHP-enabled, it's costless and has several complimentary and paid themes to use too. So, why not use it for your own ease?

WordPress is the most typically used blogging platform, but if you consider diverse blogs supported by WordPress, you'll observe that alike blogs are infrequent. This is because of the assortment of themes useable with WordPress. The themes are centered allowing a unambiguously beseeching visual aspect to a person's blog and maintaining the qualities of the subject discussed in the blog as well.

WordPress has so many themes because the objective is to offer even those without the knowledge of web designing a chance to create and maintain their own website. Unlike other free blogging and web hosting services, WordPress has thousands of themes to choose from and most of the time, each theme has variations to select from as well.

For instance, if you see a black and white minimalistic theme with two columns, you will also find several modified versions of the same theme, such as with different colour schemes while keeping the overall design the same, or with three columns and not two etc.

Most bloggers want to set up their sites with an acceptable visual aspect and keep everything minimal at first, but subsequently they sense the need to alter or entirely convert the themes and design. Such alterations are easily finished with WordPRess themes. Visitors can experience boredom and become apathetic if they see the same thing every time they visit your website, so you ought to change the theme once in awhile as a minimum step towards change.

WordPress themes are available both as free and paid, which depends on who's providing them. All of the themes available on the WordPress site are free, but they are all just variations of the same few base themes.

If you are seeking exclusivity and total singularity for your blog, you have to look for some low-cost but dissimilar WordPress themes. The bulk of commercial and long-term personal bloggers prefer such themes.

Finding The Best Free Blogging Site For Your New Blog

By M Taylor

There are so many options out there for a free blogging site that it can be a little overwhelming. A small number of large free blogging sites dominate the field, but there are also a multitude of smaller sites to choose from. Whether you sign up with a large and well established site or a smaller blogging provider who is less well known, your choice will depend on what you need from your blog host.

The biggest reason that bloggers will choose to go for the large, well known blogging sites is reliability.

A large free blogging site can provide the assurance that your blog isn't going anywhere anytime soon. These larger free blogging sites also can offer a good uptime figure and generally, a rapid response to technical issues.

Many bloggers choose to sign up with the large, well established free blogging sites for one simple reason - they offer a high degree of reliability. When signing up with one of the industry giants, you can rest assured that your blog is unlikely to disappear overnight. These hosts will also typically have a very high uptime and respond quickly to technical problems. Despite this, a lot of bloggers decide instead to go with the smaller free blogging sites for a less tangible reason - rooting for the underdog.

By choosing these free blogging sites, bloggers are backing the little guy over the huge companies which dominate the blogosphere.

What Is The Future Of Professional Blogging?

By M Taylor

Professional blogging is a new field which offers a lot of possibilities for entrepreneurs who have vision, determination and a solid handle on the latest technologies. There are as yet relatively few professional bloggers, with an even smaller number of people who are able to make a living from the proceeds of their blog. There is however an increasing number of people who are looking to monetize their blogs as a way to supplement their income. While it is hard to predict if this trend will continue over the long term, professional bloggers are growing more numerous.

While it is impossible to predict just what may happen in the field of professional blogging in the future, the number of those blogging for profit continues to grow.
There are many bloggers who are excited by the prospect of monetizing their efforts, receiving some sort of remuneration for the efforts that they invest in their blogs; indeed, many bloggers spend more than an hour a day creating content for their blogs. One of the chief methods used by bloggers to generate revenue is by selling advertising space on their blogs, either directly to a company whose target market aligns with their readership or through the Google AdSense program. As of yet, however, very few bloggers have been able to use their blogs as their sole means of support.

One thing known about the readership of blogs is that many regular blog readers are also themselves bloggers. The reason for this is obvious enough, given that those who are in the field are precisely those who have an interest in seeing what others are doing with the medium. For this reason, some of the most successful bloggers are those who have made the primary focus of their blogs the blogosphere itself.

As blogging grows, professional blogging is certain to change greatly and become far more complex than it is today. As of now, the bloggers who are having the most success monetizing their blogs are those who speak to an audience of bloggers on the topic of blogging. As the audience for blogs expands, this will change and professional blogging will have to change along with this shifting landscape lest they be left behind.

It is nearly impossible to predict exactly what the future holds for professional blogging - the blogosphere is in constant flux, which is one of the things which makes it so interesting.
